For me, Frank Rich's weekly New York Times column is required reading and this Sunday's was especially good and a little shorter than usual. Before your read it, take a look at these words:
- stranglehold (complete power over a person or situation)
- snit (very angry)
- pummeling (beat up)
- nominally (in name only)
- relished (enjoyed)
- wit (eloquent)
- jingoistic (extreme nationalism)
- body blows (hit to the body above the waist)
- circling back (returning to)
- seniority-hobbled (weakened by system based on seniority)
- horse trading (negotiation process)
- fecklessness (ineffectiveness)
- sneering (expressing contempt)
- Beltway (Washington political establishment)
- turn up the heat on (put more pressure on)
- gimmicks (device or unique feature to get attention)
- hissy fit (emotional outburst)
Now, read the column here.
Tell me: how long do you think a president can blame the prior administration for current troubles?
